We got our first egg today, whew I was beginning to think I had 30 roosters

Coop update

Got the water line run to the coop now, going to be so much easier for the chickens water especially when it starts to freeze.

Chicken nesting boxes are finally in, now we just need some eggs!

Greenhouse temp

Nov 2nd, 75 outside, beautiful fall day, temp inside greenhouse 105 at 3pm.

Garden

First light frost of the season so I thought it was a good time to pick a batch of cilantro for drying. It smells fabulous!

Garden is nearing the end. Planted lettuce, it is doing good.q

Chicken feeder

A small improvement to the chicken feeders. Legs on side to raise the height, and small shelves on the sides for grit and oyster shell.

Chicken coop

I repurposed my tomato structures to give the chickens some protection from the hawks and owls.
Electrical conduit, 2x2's, and bird netting. We will see how it works.

Sweet potato harvest

Got a good many but lost alot to rot. I think the black paper held too much moisture.

Chickens

chickens are growing I expanded the chicken area this weekend. gave them a little more forage area and some cover from predators.

Almost September and the garden is winding down. still getting pretty good harvest.

Chicken coop

Lost 10 birds to various predators, we think hawks have gotten the last few as they just disappeared. Put up netting over the coop and the electric fence around the coop, seems to be working, no more losses this week.

End of July, okra and peppers are producing like mad, tomatoes are backing off probably because of the heat. Eggplant also doing well now. Tomato plants look to be 9-10 feet tall.

Chickens

3rd week with the chickens and they are all roasting on the roasts...yeehaw

Chickens have arrived

Chickens are here and we are having a blast watching them.

Garden progress

Tomatoes have gotten 7-8ft high, nice carpet of sweet potato, peppers and okra are really starting to produce. Still having trouble with the squash. Cucumbers are dying out, I think from cucumber beetles.

Coop feeders

Coop and pasture feeders are complete. Hinged lids for easy filling.
I made 2, one for the coop and 1 for the pasture.

Got the coop painted and the  roosts are finished. getting really really close to being finished.
